The 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue was held in Luoyang, Henan province, from Friday to Sunday, with mayors from several countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, Belarus, Argentina, Uganda, Algeria, and Cambodia in attendance.
Over 100 Chinese and international guests, including representatives from international organizations, arrived in Luoyang.

The Yingtianmen Gate at the Sui-Tang Luoyang Imperial City opened to welcome global visitors on Friday evening. This ancient gate, which served as the imperial entry point for foreign envoys more than a millennium ago, stands as a historic crossroads for cultural exchange and integration.
Robbie Rodiss, chairman of Durham County Council in the UK, praised Luoyang's booming economy, city development, and green environment. He admired how Luoyang balances city development and heritage protection.
"I believe dialogue and people-to-people exchanges are fundamental to resolving differences and identifying cooperation potential," he said.

Julio Cesar Zamora, mayor of Tigre, Argentina, said he was deeply impressed by Luoyang's profound history despite a short visit.
"We not only learn from history but also create a public presence here," he said.
