The third China-France Fashion Week will be held at the China Culture Center in Paris from September 29 to October 6. This time, the Yanbian Lisu Ethnic Costume from the "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Sichuan · Hundred Cities, Hundred Arts" project will collaborate with Parisian haute couture brand INCLOVER to launch a spectacular event from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on October 1 (Beijing time). This visual feast blending Chinese and French fashion cultures will present a unique joint runway show through the lens of cultural exchange in apparel.

The Lisu ethnic group's distinctive clothing craftsmanship in Yanbian features fire grass hemp fabric made from pure plant fibers, meticulously woven through over twenty unique processes. Natural dyes including sedge grass, red tree roots, and walnut bark create intricate patterns of cloud motifs and water ripples, showcasing the Lisu people's artistic ingenuity. In 2023, this craft was listed as a representative item in Sichuan Province's sixth batch of provincial-level intangible cultural heritage. The following year, it was selected for Sichuan's "Intangible Cultural Heritage: Hundred Cities, Hundred Arts" program.

"It is a great honor to participate in the 2025 China-France Fashion Week. For this event, our intangible cultural heritage inheritors and designers have prepared for a long time, with 25 sets of garments set to debut at the fashion week," said Gu Yan, President of the Yanbian Lisu Ethnic Research Association. To prepare for the event, her team made thorough preparations by collecting numerous ancient Lisu ethnic costumes. The inheritors and designers worked overtime to create new traditional garments, enabling Yanbian's intangible cultural heritage to be revitalized within the context of fashion. Using universally recognized design language, they tell China's unique cultural stories, facilitating dialogue between traditional heritage and the international community. This initiative brings intangible cultural heritage to life through contemporary attire, propelling it onto the global stage and into the future.

According to reports, at this year's Paris Sino-French Fashion Week, the traditional Lisu ethnic costumes from Yanbian will break away from conventional display formats. The event will feature not only spectacular fashion shows but also introduce a groundbreaking robot runway show, creating a magical fusion of technology and heritage. Through an immersive AR glasses experience, audiences will be transported through time to deeply appreciate the unique charm of Lisu ethnic costume culture.

The collaboration between Yanbian Lisu Ethnic Costume and INCLOVER is of great significance. As a Paris haute couture manufacturing brand, INCLOVER enjoys a prestigious reputation in the international fashion industry, boasting advanced design concepts and exquisite craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Yanbian Lisu Ethnic Costume embodies profound traditional Chinese cultural heritage and unique ethnic styles. The partnership aims to convey the innovative spirit and cultural confidence of Lisu ethnic costume-making techniques to the world, promote the integration and mutual learning between Chinese and French fashion creative cultures, and establish a sustainable model for cultural export.

The fashion show held at the Paris China Culture Center will showcase the vibrant Li and Song ethnic costumes of Yanbian, leaving a significant mark in the history of Sino-French fashion exchanges. It will attract more attention to China's intangible cultural heritage and inject unique Eastern charm into the global fashion stage. (Contributed by: Yanbian Media, Zhu Maolan and Yang Tao)
