From September 23 to 25, the 2025 World Konjac Food Industry Development Conference, themed "New Food Frontier, Konjac's Future", was held in Muchuan County, Sichuan Province – known as the "Hometown of Konjac in China". Focused on the core topics of globalization and high-quality development of the konjac food industry, the conference brought together Chinese and International Stakeholders forces to explore new development paths for the industry and helped build a new highland for the global konjac food sector.

On the morning of September 24, the opening ceremony kicked off with the culturally distinctive Muchuan Bo People's Bronze Drum Dance, demonstrating Muchuan's profound cultural heritage and industrial vitality.

"At present, Muchuan County has 35,000 mu (approximately 2,335 hectares) of konjac planted on a large scale, built the country's first konjac science and technology demonstration park. 'Muchuan Konjac' has obtained the geographical indication trademark certification, and the annual comprehensive output value of the konjac industry has reached 1.8 billion yuan," said Wu Yuhong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Muchuan County Committee and County Mayor of Muchuan County People's Government, in the Promotion of Muchuan Konjac Industry. He fully demonstrated the strategic value and development achievements of Muchuan's konjac industry.

At the opening ceremony, the Appointment Ceremony of High-Quality Development Consultants for the Konjac Industry in Muchuan County and the Inauguration Ceremony of "Chinese Catering Industrialization Konjac Industry Innovation and R&D Center of World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry" were held.

Meanwhile, a number of signing ceremonies were held on the spot. Muchuan County signed a memorandum of friendly cooperation with Verdun, France, a strategic cooperation agreement with the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry, and a cooperation agreement with the Konjac Branch of the Chinese Society of Horticulture. In addition, 8 enterprise cooperation agreements were signed on the spot, with a total amount of 373 million yuan.

After the opening ceremony, a special seminar was immediately held, focusing on the cutting-edge trends and innovative practices of the global konjac industry. Subsequently, the "Foreseeing Konjac" Theme Panel was held, which conducted in-depth exchanges on the future development of the konjac industry, gathered the wisdom of experts from various fields, and sought common development for industry innovation and growth.

On the afternoon of the same day, the participating guests went to the core konjac planting base in Dibao Township and the China Konjac Science and Technology Demonstration Park to conduct on-site research, and personally experienced the standardized konjac planting and technological application in Muchuan County.

In recent years, Muchuan County has formed a complete industrial chain integrating konjac planting, processing, sales and R&D, with products exported to 64 countries and regions around the world. In the next step, centering on the industrial vision of "health, functionality, environmental protection and globalization", Muchuan County will continue to extend the application chain of konjac in food, health care and industrial fields, further consolidate its leading position in the national konjac industry, and strive to build an internationally influential konjac product export base and industrial benchmark. (By Li Feng)
