On September 22, the opening ceremony of the 9th Leshan City Games and 4th Disabled Sports Games was grandly held at Jingyan County Senior Vocational High School in Sichuan Province. Organized by the Leshan Municipal Government and jointly hosted by the Municipal Sports Bureau, Disabled Persons' Federation, and Jingyan County Government, this event saw participation from 13,200 individuals, including 6,190 athletes (410 of whom were disabled), 2,400 referees, and 4,200 staff members. The scale of the competition set a new historical record.

Chen Jianbo, Secretary of the CPC Jingyan County Committee and County Governor, extended his warmest congratulations on behalf of the CPC Jingyan County Committee, Jingyan County People's Government, and 370,000 residents to the grand opening of this event. He emphasized that hosting this prestigious sports gala carries profound responsibility and honor for Jingyan. The county will wholeheartedly serve as an exemplary host, continue to provide comprehensive logistical support, and strive to create a safe, orderly, fair, and welcoming competition environment. When Zhao Bo, secretary of the Party Committee of the city, announced the opening of the games, the atmosphere reached a climax with the firing of salutes. Athletes, representatives of athletes with disabilities, coaches and referees solemnly swore an oath one after another, pledging to abide by the rules and compete fairly.

The 9th Leshan City Games set up 28 major events and 467 gold MEDALS, including 12 youth projects and 16 mass projects, which achieved a significant breakthrough compared with the last one —— The youth group added hockey, and the mass group added square dancing, dragon boat racing and fishing, further covering the sports needs of different groups.

As of now, the youth division has completed 11 events (with track and field remaining unstarted), awarding 223 gold medals. The top three teams in the overall team scores are Shizhong District, Jianwei County, and Emeishan City, while the top three gold medalists are Jianwei County, Shizhong District, and Muchuan County. The mass participation division has held 14 events (tug-of-war and radio calisthenics remain unstarted), with the top three teams in the overall team scores being Shizhong District, Emeishan City, and Jiajiang County. The top three teams in the municipal government division are the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Municipal Taxation Bureau, and Municipal Procuratorate. The top three teams in the enterprise and university division are Sichuan Jiayang Group Co., Ltd., Leshan Urban Construction Investment Development Group Co., Ltd., and Leshan Normal University.

The 4th Leshan City Paralympic Games, scheduled to run from July to September 2025, featured 9 events with 260 gold medals up for grabs. As of now, the games have completed 8 events (track and field remains unstarted), awarding 164 gold medals in total. Jianwei County, Shizhong District, and Mabian Yi Autonomous County currently lead the medal standings. Athletes are embodying the spirit of "self-respect, self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-improvement," showcasing their passion for sports and pursuit of dreams on the field.

The current "Two Games" not only showcases the achievements of Leshan's sports development, but also serves as a vital platform to promote nationwide fitness initiatives and advance integration between people with disabilities and those without.
