"Folks, can you believe this? The street trees in our community are actually jackfruit trees..." On July 21, visitors to Yifuda Community in Ashuda Village, Dongqu District, Panzhihua City, are stunned by the sight—jackfruit trees line both sides of the road, with plump, round fruits hanging from the branches, as big as "green cannonballs." The scene is truly stunning!

Villager Ye Hegang pointed to the jackfruit outside his door and said, "They ripen only once a year. When the rind turns yellow, we pick them. Cut one open, and there's this sweet aroma. The flesh is sugary, with a honey-like taste, very delicious." This jackfruit tree is a true overachiever. Looking up, 12 fruits are clearly visible among the branches, impossible to hide.
Was this carefully planned? No! No! No!
A village staff member smiled and revealed, "When we did greening here years ago, we didn't know the species. They looked green and pleasant, so we planted one in front of each household." A few years later, however, "green lumps" began growing on the trees! Villagers were collectively puzzled: "What is this? Can we eat it? Why is it so big?!"
Later, it was learned that the "small saplings" planted unintentionally were actually jackfruit trees. "Now, the jackfruit outside villagers' doors not only provides shade but also bears fruit for picking and tasting. These over 30 jackfruit trees are truly a case of 'unintended success from a casual act,'" the staff added.

"Carrying one feels heavy, like holding a small pumpkin! The heaviest fruit from our tree weighed a full 38 jin (19 kg)," said villager Ahong, holding a freshly picked jackfruit. "The tree needs regular care, and it can bear more than 10 to 20 fruits a year. We eat them at home—our kids love them."
Passing by a small courtyard, attention is drawn. "We've planted passion fruit, mangoes, jackfruit... several kinds of fruits outside our door," said Ms. Ye, the courtyard's owner, with a smile. "This is a wax apple tree. The fruit is pretty good—juicy and tender."

Many villagers have arrays of succulents outside their doors, with charming shapes and stunning looks, creating a perfect atmosphere! Villagers hum tunes while watering flowers, and pick a fruit to snack on... This leisurely, fruit-scented "fairy-like life" makes anyone wish for a similar courtyard in Panzhihua!
As Ashuda's jackfruits go viral for their "jumbo" size, Panzhihua's summer fruits are stepping into the spotlight.

A variety of mangoes, with off-the-charts sweetness, drip with nectar; Feizixiao lychees, cloaked in red robes, brew "sweetness bombs"; wax apples, like juicy "pink little bells," stand ready to burst with juice; grapes hang in gem-like clusters, each plump and brimming with juice; plums are tangy, crispy and refreshing, making a "crunch" when bitten into; and there are round, plump watermelons—simply the ultimate summer heat-relief "magic tools"...

Here, the sunshine is "abundantly recharged"! Every bite of fruit is a "sweet deposit" accumulated over a whole year. (Text/Photos by Chen Yuxin, Lan Kaiqi)
